Faces

This body of work exclusively captures many of the different faces that are frequent in my personal life through black-and-white images. Taking the distraction of color out of my images, results in a luminous representation of the individual. This work explores the relationship between individuality and similarity.

People fascinate me. Each dimple, blemish, pore, freckle, wrinkle, or any other “imperfection” is what makes each person an individual. Capturing these vivid details is part of the personal identity that I find captivating. People tend to seek symmetry. Using only half of the face emphasizes distinguishing characteristics that are often overlooked. Arranging the photographs as a diptych forces the eye to merge the faces while simultaneously considering the unique identity of each individual.
